IC1805 - The Heart Nebula

The year 2025 will be remembered as a decisive year. A year of celebrations, recognition and transmission. Thank you to everyone who is part of this story.
And to those who will write the next pages.
Happy New Year 2026 !
Take good care of yourselves.

IC 1805 or Sh2-190 or W4 or Heart Nebula is an emission nebula, an HII region, and an open cluster approximately 200 light-years in diameter, located about 6,500 light-years from Earth in the constellation Cassiopeia, in the Perseus arm of the Milky Way.

The emission nebula NGC 896 (its brightest part) was discovered in 1787 by astronomer William Herschel.
This nebula, IC 1805, covers a total field of approximately 60 arcminutes, or roughly 200 light-years.

The open star cluster Melotte 15 (consisting of several hundred stars) is at the origin and centre of this heart-shaped stellar wind bubble. The Fishhead Nebula (IC 1795) is located in the extension of the lower tip of its heart shape.

The Heart Nebula (IC 1805) forms the Heart and Soul Nebula complex with the neighbouring Soul Nebula (IC 1848), two objects of equal magnitude and size, approximately 300 light-years in diameter.
